When the Great Queen Calls....
Meeting the Morrigan Through Divination, Art, and Devotion
Have you felt the call of the Great Queen but thought She was unapproachable, dark, or focused on her war or warrior aspects? The Call of the Morigan Oracle Deck may be able to help you decipher those messages and find your place in working with the Morrigan and her place in the otherworld.
The Morrigan is more than the Celtic goddess of war, she inspires and impacts her followers to their power and fullness of life.
Complete with folklore, spells, rituals, and prose, the deck and guidebook are more than a tool for divination, they are a magical tool of transformation and connection to Ireland, the land on which you live, the inner being, and the spirit realms.
If you feel a call by the Morrigan, this is a great way to begin a relationship with the her in any of her aspects. There are some other great books devoted solely to the history, lore, and modern practice with the Morrigan (including by Stephanie), but this kit distills material to the basics to get started. A sort of “TLDR” if you will, but definitely not devoid of important aspects and background. And worth a careful, meditative read!
The deck is divided into five suits, each with their own unique ways to connect with the goddess, the spirit realm, nature, and your own self.
Guises of the Morrigan: More than Macha, Morrigan, and Badb, learn about her aspects beyond the triple goddess and war goddess monikers as she is most often referd to. Other guises, such as Sovereignty and Sorceress, offer indepth ways to call on her strength for magic, healing, and more.
Otherworldly Guides: A journey to the land of the Faery (sidhe) and the otherworld is not one to be taken without thought, purpose, and preparations. Meet guides and articfacts (such as four treasures or Ireland: Lia Fáil, Cualdron of the Dagda, the Sword of Nuada, and the Spear of Lugh) to help you be successful and return safely from your journey.
Spirits of the Land: Draw on the power of some of the holy and sacred places in Ireland and meet animals who have provided insight, inspiration, and guidance. These cards are designed to help you connect with those energies, even if you are not in Ireland or haven’t been there.
Outer Worlds: These represent the things that happen that we cannot control or are part of our daily lives. Who is our tribe - blood line or chosen? Battles, victories, peace, and fate surround us every day - how do we respond and turn them to our betterment?
Inner Worlds: This emodies our inner experiences and feelings. Cycles, conflicts, justice, partnerships, death, are all part of what makes us who we are. This section will help you manifest your power from within.
Each card is fully realized and complete with what you need to work with its energy and message: background and/or lore, divinatory meaning, a unique spell or ritual for that specific card, what you need to complete it, a poem or song written for each working.
The artwork is simply stunning. The colors and the style really fit with the “feel” of the Morrigan, the otherworldly realms, and draws you in to their intent and purpose. The hand worked details of each card makes it feel almost three dimensional or tangible. The black borders and water color style set the tone for the mystery and otherworldly realms in which the Great Queen dwells.
And to help with the divination, there are some spreads created for use with the deck. But any type of spread or intuition that works best for you and your practice is encouraged to help you bond with the deck and the message.
Stephanie, Karen, and Naomi are priestesses of the Morrigan who worked closely together with meditation and devotional work to bring this project into being. They join me on episode 92 of Gifts of the Wyrd Podcast.
They share their work with the Morrigan, how they came together, and how the Morrigan spoke to each of them to manivest the deck and keep them connected throughout the process.
Trying to get just two people in different time zones in the United States coordinated with different schedules can be a challenge, but trying to get four of us, three on opposite ends of the U.S. and then bringing in someone from Britain with 5-8 hours difference in time should have been more challenging than it was. Delightfully, all was arranged for a time we could all meet and technology cooperated!
This is one of the things that I enjoy about this format of my podcast - the wonderfully creative, kind, fun, and inspiring people who create these wonderful projects.
